Marine, Display, & Remote Features
Marine Certified: The Kenwood Excelon KMR-XM500 marine digital media receiver features a water-proof & dust-tight front-panel that is IP66-rated, as well as an IPX4-rated chassis. The IP66 rating means the units' front-panel is protected against dust intrusion and strong jets of water, while the chassis' IPX4 rating means it can withstand only light water spray (not heavy water jets and not dust-tight). The KMR-XM500 is also salt-spray proof, UV protected, and vibration resistant. In addition, the use of conformal coating improves moisture resistance of the circuit boards to prevent corrosion.
- Salt Spray-Proof: ASTM B117 salt spray (or salt fog) corrosion test simulates harsh conditions in a salt water environment to ensure the product does not corrode or fail in these harsh conditions.
- UV Protection: The unit is also ASTM D4329 UV resistant tested to make sure it is protected against harmful UV rays.
- Vibration Resistant: In addition, the receiver is 3-axis multi-freqeuncy vibration tested to make sure it can withstand damaging shocks from boating and off-roading.
Note: Even though this unit is marine certified and water-proof, it should never be submerged directly into water.
