Floating Touchscreen Design
Two-Piece Configuration The Pioneer DMH-WT3800NEX digital multimedia receiver features a two-piece floating display configuration with an external 9" capacitive touchscreen monitor and a separate single-DIN (2") source unit. Separating the large touchscreen monitor from the chassis allows the DMH-WT3800NEX to be installed in a standard single-DIN (2") dash opening. The Pioneer DMH-WT3800NEX will not fit in some vehicles with a single-DIN opening due to its large 9" touchscreen monitor interfering with your vehicle's factory equipment on the dash.
-
Floating Touchscreen Monitor: The floating 9" touchscreen monitor measures 9.215" (w) x 5.375" (h) x 2.5625" (d). Depending on your vehicle's factory radio location and the location of other factory equipment, you may need to adjust the mounting position of the touchscreen monitor in order to prevent impairment of vehicle driving operations. The floating touchscreen monitor offers horizontal, vertical and tilt adjustability to ensure the best fit and usability in your vehicle's dash. These adjustments must be made prior to final installation and cannot be done during operation.
- Up/Down: The touchscreen monitor can be adjusted vertically (up or down) to prevent interference with climate controls, vents, and other factory equipment. It offers 5 positions of vertical adjustment (up to 2.375"). You can position the monitor so it sits 0.25" below the chassis, 0.875" below the chassis, 1.375" below the chassis, 2.0" below the chassis, or 2.625" below the chassis.
- Left/Right: The touchscreen monitor can also be moved horizontally (left or right) to prevent interference with climate control, vents, and other factory equipment. It offers 3 positions - Left 1.1875", Centered (default), or Right 1.1875".
- Forward/Back: In addition, the touchscreen monitor can be adjusted back and forth to allow more or less space between the monitor and the dash kit for a better fit. You can choose from 2 positions - Back (2.125" from front of monitor to dash) or Forward (3.0" from front of monitor to dash).
- Tilt Angle: You can even adjust the angle of touchscreen monitor for better usability and visibility. In addition to its vertical 90 degree angle (default), the monitor can be adjusted 15 degrees back or 60 degrees forward.
- Single-DIN Source Unit: The included source unit fits in a standard 2" single-DIN opening (applicable kit, harness, etc. will be required and sold separately for your vehicle). Once the source unit is mounted in the dash, the 9" touchscreen monitor attaches and connects to the front of the source unit using the included hardware and integrated proprietary cables. All of the Pioneer DMH-WT3800NEX's inputs and outputs are found on the rear-panel of the source unit. The amount of the source unit's protrusion from the dashboard/console can be adjusted by shifting the position of the screw holes of this unit to the factory radio-mounting brackets.
Notes: The DMH-WT3800NEX also offers modular and custom installation options (see the Installation section of the Quick Start Guide).
9" Capacitive Touchscreen: The Pioneer DMH-WT3800NEX features a 9" capacitive LCD touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 (h) x 600 (v). The capacitive LCD touchscreen is highly responsive, powerful, and very intuitive for exceptional control. The capacitive touchscreen offers multi-touch gestures like pinch-to-zoom, plus simple swipe & scroll controls - similar to your smartphone's touchscreen interface. The touchscreen display allows you to control this unit and a connected component such as an iPhone, Android smartphone, Bluetooth phone, or USB mass storage class device. Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio adjustments, and setting up the system. A non-removable shatterproof film has been applied to the unit's LCD touchscreen for added durability.
- Split-Screen Mode: With Split-Screen mode you can simultaneously display and control both the Apple CarPlay or Android Auto UI and the receiver's menu for your secondary source at the same time, on one screen. This function is useful when you want to access your music content (i.e. AM/FM Tuner or USB) while navigating through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto without having to toggle back and forth.
- Customize Home Screen: You can customize the Home screen and change its layout by selecting and rearranging your favorite sources, applications, and widgets. Widgets enable you to see your favorite sources and application information on the Home screen and access shortcuts to them.
- Wallpaper (Background): The color of the on-screen display can be set to red, amber, green, blue or white. The background display can be selected from a variety of different preset displays for the AV Operation screen and several different preset displays for the Home Menu screen. In addition, you can change the background display of Home screen to other images imported from an external USB device.
- Picture Adjustment: You can adjust the picture for each source and rearview camera. You can adjust the display's brightness (black level), contrast, color (color saturation), hue (color tone), dimmer (brightness), and temperature (white balance).
- Brightness Modes: These Brightness modes will make the receiver screen much easier to see when sunlight is being reflected in the car. The receiver will automatically switch between light/dark mode at a set time, or when your vehicles headlights turn on/off. This can also be controlled manually.
- Clock & Weather Display: The touchscreen monitor will display day, month, year, and the time. It can also display the current weather temperature if the unit is connected to the internet via WiFi to your Apple iOS device or Android smartphone.
Notes:
- This unit has a parking brake interlock system that prohibits viewing of video programming and operating certain controls when the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch video on the in-dash monitor, the vehicle must be stopped with the parking brake engaged. The head unit's light green wire must be connected to your vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. The head unit's touchscreen will display a "Caution" message, if you try to watch a video when your vehicle is in motion.
- The parking brake wire must also be connected and the parking brake engaged for certain setup functions and menu options.
- CarPlay and Android Auto do not require that the parking brake be engaged.
Front-Panel Controls w/ Custom Illumination: In addition to the touchscreen controls, the unit includes frequently used capacitive touch buttons along the left edge of the screen. The color of the button illumination can be set to red, amber, green, blue, white, or scan (constantly cycling through the color spectrum). You can also create a custom color to match your vehicle's interior lighting (112 colors to choose from).
Voice, App, & Remote Control

- Register your favorite webpage URLs (including YouTube, Facebook, and more) in the app to see those webpages (including video) on the receiver's web touchscreen monitor. The web browser cannot be used while the vehicle is in motion. Your vehicle must be stopped with the parking brake engaged (requires the light green wire of the receiver's wiring harness to be connected to your vehicle's parking brake detection circuit). The head unit's touchscreen will display a "Caution" message, if you try to use the web browser when your vehicle is in motion. Pioneer does not guarantee compatibility with all URLs.

The Pioneer DMH-WT3800NEX supports Apple CarPlay through a wireless connection using WiFi and Bluetooth (both connections must be made); or a hardwired USB connection using its rear-panel USB-A port, the supplied USB extension cable, and an Apple Certified cable (not included). You can choose from - Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Super Bass, Flat, Custom 1, or Custom 2. The Custom 1 and Custom 2 EQ modes allow you to manually adjust the level (+/- 12dB) of each band of the head unit's 13-band graphic equalizer (50, 80, 125, 200, 315, 500, 800, 1.25k, 2k, 3.15k, 5k, 8k, and 12.5k Hz).
Audio Settings: The head unit provides further sound adjustments for your car audio system.
- Listening Position & Time Alignment: For a better sound-stage you can select your optimal listening position. You can choose from All, Front Left, Front Right, or Front. You can also select to manually fine tune the sound stage, using Digital Time Alignment (DTA) by selecting the distance (0-150") for each individual speaker in the vehicle compared to your listening position.
- Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. When the Advanced Sound Retriever is on, the high frequency range is compensated to match the frequency response curve to the original sound. There are two available levels of the Advanced Sound Retriever effect.
- Bass Boost: You can easily boost the subwoofer bass level by using the Bass Boost function. The Bass Boost feature allows you increase the subwoofer level from 0 to +6 (12dB).

- Speaker Level: You can adjust each speaker and sub channel independently from +10 to -24 to best even out the sound in your vehicle.
- Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the unit's FM volume level, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4 dB to +4 dB.
- Auto Level Control (ALC): This function automatically corrects the audio level difference between the music files and/or the sources.
Rear Speaker Setup: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.
Beep Tone: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. You can turn this feature on or off.
