Features
Woofer Cone: Morel describes the woofer as having a Triple Layer Cone design; two exterior carbon fiber layers sandwiching a layer of Rohacell (a high strength, lightweight foam).
Midrange Size: The midrange drivers are not a standard size, approximately 3" diameter. They can be top or bottom mounted, and have these dimensions:
- Top mount depth: 1.523"
- Mounting height: 0.255"
- Flange height: 0.185"
- Bottom mount depth: 1.708"
- Tweeter Protrusion: 0.07"
- Cutout diameter: 3.254"
- Frame diameter: 3.944"
Tweeters: The silk dome tweeters are coated with Acuflex, a damping compound designed to minimize distortion. The tweeter is designed to be flush mounted; it is built on a flush mount frame. The dome is very delicate, so the mesh grille should always be used.
Tweeter Dimensions:

Mounting Height | 0.465" |
Mounting Depth | 1.175" |
Cutout Diameter | 2.095" |
Frame Diameter | 2.722" |
Crossover: No crossovers are included with these speakers; the system is designed to be actively crossed over using a DSP (digital signal processor), an active crossover, or the crossovers in your amplifier. (A crossover of some type MUST be used.) The best crossover settings will vary depending on the driver placement and the vehicle's interior acoustics. Morel's recommendations are listed below. If you prefer a passive crossover, use the optional Morel MXT380C (sold separately).
- Recommended Range:
- Tweeter High-Pass: 1.8 kHz to 4 kHz crossover point, 12 dB/octave slope
- Midrange Low-Pass: 1.8 kHz to 4 kHz crossover point, 12 dB/octave slope (6 dB/octave minimum)
- Midrange High-Pass: 300 Hz to 750 Hz crossover point, 12 dB/octave slope
- Woofer Low-Pass: 350 Hz to 750 Hz crossover point, 12 dB/octave slope (6 dB/octave minimum)
- Woofer High-Pass: 40 Hz to 80 Hz crossover point, 12 dB/octave slope (when used with a subwoofer)
- Optimal Settings (typical installation):
- Tweeter High-Pass: 3.3 kHz crossover point, 12 dB/octave slope
- Midrange Low-Pass: 3.3 kHz crossover point, 12 dB/octave slope
- Midrange High-Pass: 450 Hz crossover point, 12 dB/octave slope
- Woofer Low-Pass: 450 Hz crossover point, 12 dB/octave slope
- Woofer High-Pass: 40 Hz crossover point, 12 dB/octave slope (when used with a subwoofer)
- Optional Passive Crossover Specs:
- Crossover Points: 450 Hz and 2.7 kHz
- Slope: 12 dB/octave
